n     Provided general management leadership for a $400 million food service distribution business including full P&L responsibilities.

n     Directed the management of 360 drivers, warehouse employees, supervisors, administrative and maintenance mechanics.

n     Managed building maintenance and all material handling equipment for two facilities (main warehouse of 265,000 sq. ft. plus an offsite freezer of 100,000 sq. ft.. ) with 17,800 sku’s, frozen, cooler, dry chemicals and restaurant equipment.

n     Installed on-line labor standards and T.Q.M processes plus initiated backhaul program that encompassed 25% of all vendor purchases.

n     Met all EPA, FDA, DOT, OSHA safety and sanitation standards including training, development and reporting.

n     Dispatched 120 route assignments and load duties per day utilizing Roadnet and Cadec interfaces.

n     Coordinated fleet preventative maintenance covering 221 tractor-trailers and straight trucks.

n     Achieved 40% increase in productivity while sustaining 99.5% customer service and delivery quality levels.

n     Consolidated four warehouses totaling 467,000 sq. ft. into 395,000sq. ft. over 8 “seamless” moves by exercising strong planning and problem solving skills (warehouse slotting, racking, hi-rise set up, vendor receiving and shipping procedures). 

KRAFT FOODS, Indianapolis, IN 1991-1995

n     Achieved 23% productivity gain in 3 consecutive years, while improving quality levels and on time delivery from 86% to 94%

n     Held expense ration to sales flat for 3 years while case Volume increased 12%.

n     Doubled net backhaul income to $230,000 annually.

n     Negotiated new labor agreement that restored previous labor standards program which offset wage increase over 3 year term.

 

MONARCH FOODS, Fort Wayne, IN   1987-1997

VP Operations

n     Managed $150 million food service distribution business, 104 unionized workers, 6,000 sku full service warehouse for dry, frozen, equipment, meat and produce items.

n     Planned and implemented on-line computer system to improve productivity for picking, receiving and inventory control.

n     Grew backhaul programs that generated $893,000 in revenue

n     Maximized facilities and equipment by distributing 500,000 cases of Federal Commodities to two Indiana school regions.

 

MIESEL SYSCO, Detroit, MI   1984-1987

Warehouse Manager

n     Managed a full service 317,000 sq. ft. distribution facility with responsibilities for 13,000 sku’s 84 employees, 52 trucks and annual revenue of $150 million.
