TO ANON P-38 - I'm not a fan of George W. Bush. Everything I have read or seen about confirms my opinion that he has failed upwards. I think trying to turn the USA into a Christian theocracy (via the extreme right-wing of the Republican Party) goes against what the Founding Fathers envisioned for America. The last time I voted Repulican was for Reagan. It was the last time the the moderates held control of the Republican Party.
The only reason I made the comment was that in this age of information, perception and image count for a lot. I don't mean to say he needs to be at Dover AFB 24/7, but it would be a nice gesture if he showed up once in a while. There will be a lot of caskets coming back in the next few weeks, and I think the families of those killed would appreciate it.

It's probably time to discontinue the politics page since there appears to be little or no activity. But I would like to respond to Anon P-37. You lose most of us with your first word - "Dubya". You see, those interested in making well thought out and reasonable political commentary don't call our political opponents names. With that said, do you believe it would be a useful exercise for our President to meet mortuary flights? Do you believe this would be the best use of his time? Should Bill Clinton have met those flights coming in from Somalia? Should Richard Nixon, LBJ and JFK met those flights coming in from Vietnam? I can go on and on - Truman for the Korean War, FDR for WWII, etc.. Did the fact that JFK never met a flight coming in from Vietnam preclude him from speaking at Arlington on Veteran's Day? Of course not - he was our President and it was appropriate for our Commander in Chief to pay tribute to our veterans at our National Cemetery. Your type really make me sick - If the President hadn't went to Arlington on Veteran's Day you would be complaining about that. Sorry the President can do nothing right in your eyes - sorry for you as your utter and complete ignorance is very apparent ... and embarrassing.
ANON P-38

Now that the election is over it probably is nearing the time to get rid of this page....the decision will be based on emails received for this page this week...

Dubya has not been to one funeral for a servicemember killed in Iraq or been to Dover AFB to meet a mortuary flight. This being said, I think he has a lot of nerve to speak at Arlington on Veteran's Day. If you have Cox cable as your ISP, there is a picture of Bush with Islamic leaders at the White House on 11/10. The expression on his face seems to say "What the F**K are these people
doing here?"

Your lies about Bush are ridiculous. First, he did not lie about WMD - he was given incorrect information about WMD - as was confirmed by numerous commissions. If you had the information he had would you do nothing? Is ignoring a problem the way to solve it? And what about the hundreds of thousands of people Saddam was killing each year? Where did you get the information about Iraq and ties to Al-queda not existing? The DNC? And I see you have bought into the DNC nonsense about Bush not being able to think on his feet and the Internet rumors about Bush having a low IQ. Tell me, if someone talks with a different accent, does that make them inferior in your opinion? Your ignorance is astounding and sad. If the Dems had put forth a worthy opponent, then Bush would have been defeated. But who did they pick? A mediocre Liberal Senator with no record of any accomplishments who stands for nothing and uses polls and politics to determine what he is going to say. Kerry was a complete joke and an embarrasment and is a big part of the decrease in power of the Dems. Bigger embarassment were left wing ilk like Michael Moore who spew hate and lies and scum like Al Gore who call Bush's people "Brown shirts". Read a history book and you will find out about brown shirts - Gore was WAY out of line (and to think this idiot was almost our President???) Re-run the election Bush vs. Lieberman and Lieberman wins because Lieberman is like Bush - he is a MAN unlike politicians like Kerry. Bush's strength is he has convictions and is a Statesman and not a politician. I disagree with our President on numerous issues but appreciate the fact that he isn't a political bullshitter like Kerry and Clinton who strive to tell us what we want to hear instead of what they believe. Does anyone really know what Kerry believes or stands for?? His nickname of "Flipper" was earned. The democrat party has gone on far too long as the party of special interests and the "feel good" party that tells the voter what they want to hear and they continue to pay for this at election time. And now, idiots like Nancy Pelosi have announced that the ignorance continues - how many wake up calls do the Dems need to know that they are losing popularity and legitimacy?? As an American, I am proud to have a President who tells it like it is - like another famous President named Harry Truman who, shockingly, was a democrat. Bush will be remembered as a man like Truman while Clinton will be remembered as a bullshitter who had no moral compass. These are different times my friend - we are at war with terror and we need strong leadership - not "feel good" touchy feely nonsense. I hope the Dems grow up and wake up and take the advice of patriots like Zell Miller who have seen the decline and fall of the party - it would be nice to have a choice again and have two viable political parties instead of one for the people and one for the special interests and handout crowd.

How anyone in their right mind could have voted for Bush is beyond me. The man lied to us about WMD, about Iraq's ties to Al Queda, has given companies benefits to send jobs overseas. The man cannot think on his feet as we have seen anytime he strays from his script. God help this country during the next four years!

What is the BFD about this? The election commissioner reports that there are no rules or regulations in place in the event of a major incident on election day in which it may be deemed a need to postpone..key word postpone, not cancel the election. Gee whiz Winston, we are living in extraordinary times. We are at war, unlike any war that our country has ever been in; facing an unconventional enemy. Think about it Winston, it was not that many years ago when you went to the airport, you walked right in the boarding area, and walked right on the plane. Nobody cared what you may have in your carry-on, but times have change and a enemy has forced us to take measures to ensure the endurance of this great Republic. Furthermore, if Bush had wanted to take over the country, he could have very easily invoked Executive Order #12919 (signed June 1994) back on September 11th, 2001.

Saw a news report that Dubya and friends might want to postpone the election if there is a terrorist incident near Nov 2. Do you think Cheney or someone told him how Hitler had the Reichstag (German parliament) building burned down in order to scare the German people and consolidate his power?

re: THE CONSTITUTION - Dubya admits he doesn't read much. Maybe Laura should read the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence to him. She can explain all the big words to him. Then she can have a high school civics teacher try to explain to Dubya that Iraq 2004 isn't Japan 1945, and he isn't Douglas MacArthur. There is no history of democracy in the Middle East, except Israel. And their government is more like Britain's the the U.S.

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years and Hell, we're not using it much anymore.
